Does anyone know whether or not the number of community theatres in the US is increasing?

I can't speak for the whole country, but I am in southern New Jersey, just outside of Philadelphia and the number of theater's is definitely increasing in this area.

In Southern and Western Maine I know of two getting ready to open, and one more that is a definite maybe. It will be interesting to see if they actually open.

In my area of CT (New Haven), community theatres spring up and close down regularly. We just have too many professional theatres for amateur groups to make a real impact.

In Southern MA there are definitely a few longstanding CT's, we've been going strong for about 30 years, and definitely have 30 more in us!!
