I'm looking for a good comedy that has 2 stong female parts, a cast of no more than 7 total and a simple set.  Anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

You didn't specify the ages of the women, but you've just described Neil Simon's female version of the "The Odd Couple".
If your females are 20-30's then you might want to look at Alan Ball's "Five Women Wearing the Same Dress."

The Smell of the Kill     3 women  3 men as off stage voices.   You can find it a www.dramaticpublishing.com   They even have an excerpt that you can read on-line.   The set may not be as simple as you'd like as it takes place in a very very upscale suburban kitchen.    When I directed it I had a working refrigerator and running water from the sink.    You also need to show an oven or at least a cooking range and should have a nice looking facade for a dishwasher and be able to open it to put dishes in it.   Oh and a clock gets shot off the wall, so have good working prop hand gun.  Other than than a pretty simple dark comedy that had everyone rolling in the aisles.   Oh yeah and the knife effect in the broom closset was a crowd pleaser every night......as was the freezer packed with Green Giant frozen pea boxes.....and the working baby monitor with baby crys and actor dialog might be challenging.......and I haven't even gotten to the plot yet.

aww Topper, I had so much respect for you before you said "female odd couple..."  Never felt the translation really went over ... I mean, Imagine.. a woman who likes her house really clean.. who can grasp that?  Sorry, I'm bad, but I really hate that show...  could you tell?

I have to agree with Marty - I read the script and found it really, really dated for the time period and just not quite up to par with the original male version.

I thought I was the only one that didn't care for the Female Version.  I keep hearing it described as "funnier than the original" . . . uh, no.

Excuse me, while I pick up my teeth.
I was only recommending the show because of dschock's specifications.  I've never actually seen the female version.  Like the man who bought orthopedic shoes, I now stand corrrected.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate all the input (even Odd Couple female version - which I might mention, I had thought of too, but I'm not a huge fan of it either, and I needed 7 in the cast and I think it's eight)!
Five Women Wearing the Same Dress looks like it could work perfectly.  Does anyone have more input on it (good or bad)? DS
