Topic: Comedy w/ simple set

I am about to tackle this directing thing for the first time here in our local community theatre. Never done this before (I am used to acting). Can anyone recommend a good comedy that is not too difficult for a beginner director. 8+ characters?

I've written a few that might fit your bill. Both can be read online for free.

The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon (cast of 5+) kind of like the complete works of Shakespeare abridged, except with the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm. Has been done at about two dozen community theatres now. Read it here:

Moon Over Buffalo was done a couple of seasons ago. It was great.

"Dearly Departed" is a good simple comedy.

TITLE: "Divorce Sale"
GENRE: Contemporary Comedy.
LOGLINE: Neighbors hold a séance to contact the deceased husband of one’s ditsy mother-in-law.
CAST OF CHARACTERS: 10 (6f,4m)- 2 (1f,1m) characters are cameo roles.
SCENIC REQUIREMENT: Double-car garage. (Relative simple, frugal scenic design.)
TIME: Spring, early 1990s.
APPROXIMATE RUNNING TIME: 80 minutes.
