I am about to tackle this directing thing for the first time here in our local community theatre. Never done this before (I am used to acting). Can anyone recommend a good comedy that is not too difficult for a beginner director. 8+ characters?

Thanks! Wink

I've written a few that might fit your bill. Both can be read online for free.

The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon (cast of 5+) kind of like the complete works of Shakespeare abridged, except with the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm. Has been done at about two dozen community theatres now. Read it here:

A Tiny Miracle with a Fiberoptic Unicorn (5 F 3 M) has not been done at any community theatres, even though it's a very cool play, dang it. Read it here:

"Dearly Departed" is a good simple comedy.
