I am set on doing a musical in the spring, but I'm also kicking around the notion of doing one more small cast show, specifically The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged. I have two strong senior boys and a really strong senior girl for the roles. The script is written for three guys - has anyone done this show with a female in the cast? If so, how was it?

Thanks!!

Best,

Jared

Yes, I've seen it with two guys and a girl before. I think it works just fine provided you have a really funny actress. Also - since part of the humor is in the cross-dressing, make sure that the girl's female characters are equally ridiculous as the boys' caricatures of females. (Does that make sense? Her female characters must be equally outrageous in order to get the humor to work.)

I'd say go for it.

It's the personalities of the actors that's important to the balance of the show, not just their sex.

As long as you have the "Serious" one, the "Affable" one, and the "Sensitive" one, you'll have the right combination.

Go for it.

Thanks for the support and for affirming that the show can be done with a female. I have some really talented seniors, so I'd like to do one more for fun with them. You all are great help! Thank you!!!

Sorry again for necro-posting...

I've worked on this show before with two men and two women, plus a "narrator", and it was fantastic and a success. Worked great since we had an outstanding cast. So I concur you don't NEED to do the show with three men, and it can be just as funny.
