we have been having some issues getting over a rift between our cast and crew.(I work at a high school) We are wanting to do some team building exercises/games that include Tech and do not specifically focus on acting, but are still theater related. we've thought of doing some sort of techie olympics, but I am also looking for some other ideas that are not too complex to set up, or too time consuming to explain or organize.
Any thought or ideas?

Food. That's all I can think of right now. Kids love food. Quit rehearsing, eat.
Tech is tough, they get blamed for everything. But it is always their fault...
Good subject, hopefully wiser folks will chime in.

In college, the actors had to take tech classes. It did wonders for their understanding of the tech pressures. Had to watch them like a hawk to make sure they didn't amputate fingers, or electrocute themselves, but...

What if you had an actor pitch-in night, where actors worked on sets to help get everything finished? Yep, they will mostly wield paintbrushes--mostly black paint, but they will see behind the scenes. During break, serve pizza and coke to the entire team, techs and actors. Then at the end of the show have some paper-plate awards. One of the awards is a paper-plate with a smiley face on it for the actor honored as an "Honorary Techie". Another award is for the "Prima Dona Techie" (techie who acts like an actor). Have the kids make up their own paper plate awards based on the stupid stuff that happens during the show. Finally, during the show week have a piece of posterboard hung backstage with "Thanks to the Techies" written across the top. Have the actors each write a message offering thanks or wishing the techs good luck on their big night. If you want a corresponding "Break a Leg" posterboard can have best wishes to the actors.
