This is a 2 part topic...

Just curious if anyone has ever done this show "13 Clocks"? I have read it, and it cute.... but I am concerned about it being too short. We just came off of doing our fall musical (Barnum) which was a huge success....

In general we are looking for a "fun" quirky comedy.. and not necessarily a "typical" show that everyone has done to death.... any other ideas? Other plays we have done "Noises Off", "Murdered to Death", and our most recent play was "Our Town" so FUN is definitely in order.

I also considered the title. I only know of the One-Act musical from MTI - The Thirteen Clocks. Is this the version you read or did you find a straight play version?

I enjoyed the read, but wasn't ready to tackle the FX involved. I also thought the Todal was rather anti-climatic.  Anyway, I was going to couple it with the play Many Moons, also by Thuber and also set it a fairy-tale castle. The possiblity still might make it to the stage here, but not in 2012.

You could make it an "Evening of Thurber" using some of his essays and poems as well. Or couple it with any fairy-tale piece that matches his whimsey.

There is a straight play version available thru Samuel French. It is listed under "full length plays" so we plan to enhance a few scenes by acting them fully out instead of just telling the "back story" tales as the script does. But I agree, the Todal is just plain weird and seems out of place. Hopefully it will help that the director also owns a copy of the book it was adapted from.

Amiee, I was wondering if you successfully executed your production of "13 Clocks"? Tell me about it?
