Just got an email from the local library, they would like me to do something about the Civil War, slaves, etc., and they will fund it. ( I love groups that will fund my fun!) Idealy would be a cast of 10 or less, and an hour or a little less. I don't have a lot of time to put this together. THoughts??

Catherine Trieschmann
Comic drama
3 m., 4 f.
Unit set.
Set at the end of the Civil War in a town with split loyalties, this play weaves humor and mythology into a story about women who must find ways to keep hearth and home together in the absence of "full bodied" men. Focus is on the fracture that occurs in one family when a blind daughter is seduced by a Union raider with extraordinary storytelling abilities, much to the dismay of her staunchly Confederate mother.

Thank you both for the ideas. Wonderful. I'll be working on a selection this weekend.

I have "The Virginia Veteran" transcribed, if you'd like a copy.

I was just apart of The Kentucky Cycle. It is a BRILLIANT play. It is made up of 8 mini plays that you could pick from.

I also have a copy of "The Copperhead" from Google Books. Set in the civil war and 40 years after, pretty nice little story. Originally from Samuel French, but it's from 1918 and they don't list it on their site.
