I am looking for an PERFORMANCE oriented adaptation of Taming of the Shrew for high school students. I teach at an international school, and my audience could not follow the original language. I have seen kiddie versions, and translations that are just for students to read. I don't want to do Kiss Me Kate because my students would not identify with the American setting.

There's Bill Siviter's http://www.lazybeescripts.co.uk/cgi-bin/Search_Results.asp?iSc=1004 - Kids in Lurve which tells the story in modern English verse. As written, it has a (very specific) UK setting, but that's mainly through references to local cuisine, and the author's intention is that it be adapted to the regional food of wherever it is being stage. It's aimed at the lower end of high school, so might suit your purposes.
Alternatively, Bill Tordoff's http://www.lazybeescripts.co.uk/cgi-bin/Search_Results.asp?iSc=838 - A Thirty Minute Taming of the Shrew fits one part of your purpose, but not the other! It deliver's the whole story relatively simply, with the original characters and plot. However, it's an abridgement - it uses the original language (although where possible it omits the most obscure parts).

I have an adaptation that might work for you. It's a work in progress. Three theatre groups have done it in the past few years, and a fourth set to do it later this year. It's true to the original, but much of the language has been cut; and it's all in prose. (No blank verse to confuse novice actors.) I'd be glad to email you a couple of scenes so you see if it would work for you.
