Hello folks! Just trying to see if there are any suggestions on creating huge (about 3-5 feet tall and in diameter) pumkins. I'm creating a lobby scene and want several giant pumpkins and just don't know what to make it out of. I'd like to have them be shiny (maybe glittered). I just don't know what to make them out of. I have a picture that I'm using currently using that I'd be happy to share if I could figure out how to imbed it. It basically looks like the pumpkins are made out of plastic (created for a professional production.) Surely there is some way to do this?

You could vacuum form them, (I think the depth of them might cause issues thou) or you could paper mache them, or you could cut from foam, or you could make a wire frame then stretch a material over the frame. But I think I'd do cardboard. If you cut several of the following shape out of cardboard

you can attach them at top and bottom to a center 'stem' made from a 2" x 2" by 3 foot board, leaving a gap between cardboard pieces, but making them fit a basic pumpkin shape, add foam strips to round out the shape, then cover with an orange stretch material, then paint and glitter. as a final touch, cover the 'stem' with twisted paper to make a gourd type stem.
