I am currently doing a production of Annie Get Your gun. There is a trick where a bird is shot off a hat on stage. How do you do it? Please help. Thanks

the actor with the bird on the hat pulls a thread and pulls the bird off the hat? If you want the bird to have some momentum and really 'fly' off the hat, then perhaps an offstage pull is in order with fishing line.

Without knowing what your setup is, it makes it difficult to make a more concise suggestion.
