I read part of a perusal online and now can't (for the life of me) remember where or what it was.  Perhaps you can help.

It was based on A Christmas Carol, but was staged as sort of like a rehearsal or perhaps the actual play happening onstage.  The director was sitting in the audience speaking to/correcting the actors as they went through the production ("Why did you move the halltree?"  "Because it wasn't where it was supposed to be." Ect.)  I think all of the actors were also acting as dressers backstage and had numerous parts in the production, too.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?!

Not much to go off of....was it Inspecting Carol? Then there's the Traveling Travest in Two Tumuluous Acts--hope that helps:)

Inspecting Carol was the first thing that came to mind, though from the little you tell us (and I directed it a decade or so ago), it didn't quite sound like it.

Cheers,
Jon
