Evening,

I'm looking for a one-act to enter into the community theater division of a theater festival.  I have a very strong, 40-50 age male available and a strong 18 y/o female.  Cast needs to be small (3-5).

All suggestions much appreciated.

You can try The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, a group from Nebraska won their division in the community theatre contest two years ago. You can do it with a cast of 5 and need a very strong male.

If you can find your way to seven actors (5M 2F) my show "Bob's Date" would be right up your alley. A good role for an older man, an ideal role for your 18 year old, and it's done very well in the past in competitions at several levels, including the Eastern Mass Association of Community Theaters event (2nd place, 2004) and a number of school-level competitions around the country.

It's available from Heuer:

Take a look at http://www.lazybeescripts.co.uk/cgi-bin/Search_Results.asp?iSc=1006 - Horseplay by Graham Jones.
It's set in a Welsh rugby club, so would need a bit of adaptation to a local "hard sport" - football or hockey - in a club where after-match activity has gotten out of hand.

There's Bailing Out by Arthur M. Jolly.

One older M, one younger F role - both fairly intense, but some humor to lighten the drama.
