For the past few years we've been using the middle school theatre for our Winter productions.

This year was The Diary of Anne Frank, last year was Holes, before that was The Miracle Worker and To Kill a Mockingbird.

Part of the deal with that venue is that we provide two free shows for the school's students as 12:00pm afternoon assemblies. The shows we've chosen have generally been something of an educational value with perhaps the exception of Holes, but that was a good fit as it was a novel that they were familiar with.

So what's next? I'd like to have a comedy. The plat selection committee initially suggested Harvey, but the board is unsure if that's a good fit.

The cast doesn't have to have kids in it, but be a good show that would be appropriate for the venue and eventual audience of 7th graders

Try the Greek Mythology Olympiaganza, it's kind of a whirlwind parody and somewhat-educational send up greek myths, including a 3-minute verison of the Iliad. The Coterie theatre in Kansas City is touring it to KC High Schools and middle schools this year. Read it for free here:

There's a full-length version too, if you'd prefer that.
