OK, I need some assistance from those here who are much more experienced than I. I am assisting the local HS with their their production of Annie Get Your Gun, which has a mid-March 2010 run.

I don't know the show at all, but I believe it is during the opening scene when the girl is up against the wall surrounded by balloons and a knife thrower tosses a few knives toward her and pops the balloons.

Yes, I know this is all fake, lol. Just need some suggestions on making it believeable.

Think backwards.

You can use some fake knives to spring out of the board (springload them inside the board), then cover the hole you've got them coming out of with balloons. Put a small pin on the handle edge of the knife that pops the balloon when the knife emerges from the board. Some pins will miss balloons and that will simply look like the knife thrower went a bit to the side.

Knife thrower has his own knife that he palms as he throws it. When he reaches for the next knife, he simply unpalms the existing knife
