Has anyone ever done Into the woods with an ensemble?  I love the show but we have too many actors!
If anyone has added roles, which part of the show did they fit in?

Thanks!

Be very carefull in adding roles that don't exist in the script or "enhancing" those that do.   You could be in violation of your performance license.  You would need to obtain permission to do that  from the licensing publisher.

Just out of curiosity - there are so many large-cast-with-ensemble shows available - why not produce one of them?

I saw ITW done in Ohio once with tons of extras .... lots of storybook characters who mainly came in at the end of the show, I believe.

Sounds like a great way to DOOM your production before the first day of rehearsal.  Seriously, this is not a show to mess with.

Please Please Please pick a large cast musical.

ok, I dont mean to do this show with 80 actors! I was just curious about adding on a few here and there- maybe 2 Stewards..a few extra voices in the group numbers, etc.
It's one of my favorite shows so I dont intend on changing it.

I've thought of this before but really don't see a way it would work =(

I have done it where I added fairies- sort of spying throughout the show, especially when the princes were around - they sang in the group numbers, I only had 5-6 of them.  members of this group also played Cinderella's mother and the giant's voice and the two princesses at the end
