I am a teacher at an Elementary/Middle school and running a class designed to take monologues, scenes, and songs on the subjecting of Work, and integrate them into a 30-40 minute presentation.

The inspiration for this is Working, the Stephen Shwartz show.  And though I do like that show, I'm not sure that many of those scenes/songs are appropriate for presentation to an Elementar/Middle School audience.

Thoughts?  Suggestions?

I haven't read it myself yet, but I heard that WORKING has been updated to include scenes like the telephone operator is replaced by a tech support guru, things like that, might be worth checking out, not sure if its still safe enough for your needs but the changes might be effective

Let me assure you there are scenes in WORKING that are NOT appropriate for elementary/middle school thespians  (i.e. the fireman, for one).  I'm as liberal as it gets when it comes to theatre, but that scene gets pretty 'rough.'  If, on the other hand, you're just taking a cutting from the show, there might be possiblilities.  THEN all you have to concern yourself with are copyright infringement problems.
