Rather than hijack the Derivative Works thread below, I thought I'd base a new thread on this comment:

Short answer: hell no!
I have, hidden away somewhere in my basement, a videotape of a show I did years ago. They handed it to me without asking, and I was always going to give it to my mom, and I always forgot to, and she's gone now, so, oops. But there's no way I'd watch it myself. Cannot stand to see or hear myself.
So the topic of this thread is: Am I the only one?

I have tapes of every show I've done since the advent of consumer video tape. I have tape recordings of shows before then.
I love having them. It's not like I sit around Saturday nights and watch them LOL - but, still, it's nice to have that record somewhere.

I have the odd 'safety video' of shows I have done, although I'm not in any of videos, as I'm a very shy techie & usualy just meld into the shadows. In fact the only production photo of me around is at the Old Mill Theatre in South Perth. Then it is only the back of my head as I posed for a publicity short, when I directed Man Of La Mancha years ago.

There are several shows I teched for that I would love a video of; most notably, a production of 42nd Street. I got to help push on the train, loaded with lovely young ladies in lingerie . . . it is perhaps not much of a mystery why I'd like a video of that one . . . .

Well here's one that's a blend.. (tech/safety/on stage) I do have a few tapes of old shows around. One of my favorite is a clip where I was just getting back into theater and was working crew... We were doing a one act called "Liberated Cinderella" a modern day (for then) version of the the old story. Except here, when ever she called out for help a suitable attired gangster called "The Godfather" appeared in a puff of pyro. On the final dress rehearsal, the puff went of with a little too much gusto and a spark arced across the stage, landed in a plastic potted plant and a fire ensued. The actors just stood and starred. This was a scene where Cindy had her mop and bucket on stage. The vid shows the action, the ensuing fire, then me, in stage crew attire, casually walked out of the wing, picked up the flaming pot, deposited in the mop bucket, then walked of stage....
When the mood to "review" the past comes along, though it doesn't show the products of my directing, or set building, or acting, it still gives me a chuckle...
