I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for plays that lean a little right of center. My theater produces plenty of what would be considered progressive material... But my opinion is that art must stimulate thought and conversation. We just can't do that if we keep producing material that comes from the same political viewpoint every time.

Just looking for suggestions here. I'm NOT looking to get into a political debate. Thank you in advance.

Liberal Speaking here, so I'm not too up on conservative shows, but:

"The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial" by conservative Herman Wouk espouses the idea that no matter how crazy and likely-to-get-you-killed your captain is, shut up and deal with it because that's what your Country wants you to do.  Admittedly, the theme is stronger in the book than in the play, but it's there.

I always thought Our Town was pretty conservative. I don't think there's too much new stuff though.

Not sure what you mean by a 'conservative' play, never having been a tory, wig or whatever & having been vacinated against it as a wee kid?
Surely any play if you look beyond the black bits in the script, has enough open white spaces to play with? To put whatever slant in or on it, political or otherwise, as would be your want!Wink

I know what you mean "generally" by the more liberal slant of theater, but I think your best starting point would be to enumerate a few plays that you think "push" a liberal theme and then do a compare and contrast type of deal.... What did you have in mind as your left leaning plays?
