Has anyone done the show Some Things You Need To Know Before The World Ends, by Larry Larson & Levi Lee? I'm reading it right now and it seems pretty darn funny. Very prop heavy show, but it's a hoot. It feels like the kind of show the actors would have a blast doing. Just was wondering if anyone has done it and if they got much flak from the audience for the subject matter. It dances right on the sacrilegious edge. Thanks, Gene |

Never seen it, so I'm not really any help, but personally I think it steps right over the sacrilegious edge and jumps off, laughing and dancing the whole way. And I love the script too. "Jesus was a Lutheran, in every word and deed . . . ."  You would need a very progressive audience to get away with this one. ------------- POB Old Bugger, Curmudgeon, and Antisocial B**tard |

Update. We did the production and it was hilarious. The props were a nightmare, but it was pretty fun having to construct "The Machine" (a self-whipping bike). The sacrilegious aspects of the play actually didn't bother anyone. The more religious the person was, the louder they laughed. The pictures look interesting.
I have to ask though - We're in the Bible Belt, and a relatively new company. Do you think it would push the envelope too much? To give a baseline - another company did Doubt recently, and although it was an amazing production, not very many people liked it. |

| Well, we're in Memphis. That's kinda the buckle of the bible belt. But in a conservative area it might offend. We did have smaller houses, I think mainly because it's not that well know. But, it was a blast and the actors loved doing all the different characters. |

By the way, what is the "Memphis Flyer"? Is that a print publication or just online? I'm curious about the use of the term "weird s**t" in the review. That seems like an effective way to get the attention of the people who would enjoy this show, but there's no way we could say that in publicizing a show in our town. |

The Flyer is a local free publication. It's the paper everyone goes to for local events and news. And as far as "weird s**t", if you look at some of our productions, we have more than lived up to that unofficial mission statement.

That's great. I've been wishing we still had our old, smaller space. We're renting a larger theater now and it seems like we have to do safer shows to break even. |
