Hello All -

I am a college senior from Texas majoring in Theatre and for my last theatre class I am required to write a paper on some area of modern theatre that interests me. So I have chosen to write about community theatre and how it is affected by the community it serves.

I am looking for quotes to use as a part of my research and I want these quotes to come from real people who love community theatre.

Please reply to this forum with a statement about how community theatre is a part of your life and what it means to you. Also if you have an opinions about how the community at large affects the decisions of a community theatre group I would love to have some of those quotes.

By posting on this forum you are giving me permission to use your written words, exactly as they are posted, in my research paper. I will notify you if I do decide to use what you post.

Please help me out with this! I would be so grateful!

Katie Marchant

Community Theatre provides the means through which people become artists by creating live art through theater productions.  It allows those unsuited or unwilling to perform to "mingle in the arts" through participation in the various aspects of play production.

A statement about how ct is a part of my life, huh? Just one?
Well, before ct, I used to paint a few backgrounds for my sister's photography studio, make a spectacle of myself in every wedding video (sometimes unaware) and read out loud to get my kid off to bed. CT covers all those bases, plus gives me the opportunity to work with a multitude of people who have different viewpoints and different lifestyles - but who share one thing in common … the love of the play.

To me it's the woodcraft sign for 'gone home' which is a a large circle with a smaller circle in the centre. Or an '0o' being a large object with a smaller one along side. As adopted by Lord Robert Baden-Powell of Gillwell {Founder of the world wide Scouting Movement} who had the the sign placed on his gravestone.
I was hatched at the stage door & hopefully  as a finarle, I will turn up my clogs backstage. Where by I have left instructions for them to shove my in a garbage bag & put me in the refuse skip, outside the theatre loading dock - which helps save everyone all that paper work!Evil%20Smile
