The Cedar Falls Community Theatre, and corporate sponsors LR Jewelers and Y99.3 FM, announce auditions for the play Death By Chocolate, by Paul Freed. The play is a delightfully sarcastic comical murder mystery spoof. Members of the newly renovated Meadowbrook Health Resort are dropping like flies - not the best advertisement on the eve of the grand reopening! It's up to Manager John Stone to find the cause and the murderer. Stone finds himself teaming up with amateur sleuth mystery writer, Ed Parlor, in a wacky race against time. The clues point to a sinister box of chocolates and the suspects include all the outlandish characters working for the resort.
Auditions will take place at the Oster Regent Theatre, 103 Main Street in downtown Cedar Falls, Sunday August 16 and Tuesday August 18 at 7:00pm. Performances are October 2 - 11. People auditioning will read from the actual script. Greg Holt will direct this show. Holt is the youth director at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Waterloo. He also directs the Parabola improv group. Holt directed The Importance of Being Earnest for CFCT last February. Parts being cast in Death By Chocolate include six men and six women.
Scripts are available to be checked out for three days with a $10. refundable deposit Monday through Friday, from 9:00am - 4:00pm. Rehearsals will begin August 22. All roles are open and all actors, regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity or presence of a disability are encouraged to audition.
