Set in 1968 on a hilarious journey of self-discovery, Sealed for Freshness is the story of five Midwestern women who believe in being good wives, good mothers and good neighbors. They were raised to trade their dreams, hopes and desires for social norms…and now they want them back. These hermetically sealed, airtight lives unravel during a sidesplitting Tupperware party gone awry. These women are struggling with lost youth, missed opportunities — and deviled egg containers. They're the original Desperate Housewives!
Sandra Lynn Kraus will direct this San Diego premiere. Sandra last worked at OnStage Playhouse on the multi award-winning The Laramie Project. Assistant direction is provided by Jenna Long, and Sheila Mura returns to produce this show after producing last season’s Shivaree. The multi-talented design team includes: Chad Oakley (lights), Rosemary King (set), Matt Warburton (sound), and Brianna Inserra (technical operator).
The cast is headed by OnStage Playhouse’s Artistic Director, Teri Brown as Tupperware party hostess Bonnie Kapica. Returning to OnStage after their recent appearances in Lend Me a Tenor are Robin Boyington and Angie Doren, as ditzy Tracy Ann and perfectionist Jean. Holly Stephenson tackles the role of the perpetually-pregnant and supremely belligerent Sinclair. Making her debut at OnStage as Diane, the Midwest region’s number one Tupperware saleswoman, will be Kat Fitzpatrick. Rounding out the cast after his most recent appearance on our stage in Bleacher Bums is James P. Tarbert as Richard, Bonnie’s disgruntled blue collar husband.
Ticket prices are $15.00 general admission and $13.00 for students/seniors/military and emergency services personnel (i.e., police officers, EMTs, fire department staff). Group rates are available by contacting Betsy Keller via the theatre contact information. Curtain times are Thursdays-Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm.
Sealed for Freshness is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
