It's time to go back.
Purple's going to Return to the Forbidden Planet. And we're going to do it
like you've never seen it before.
We are looking to get together a production group that's going to bring
passion, energy and have a lot of fun putting on what should be a fantastic
experience for all involved - as well as a phenomenal(1) show. The word was
chosen carefully there. This show has been done before by other groups, but
we are looking to set a new standard of how it looks, feels and runs.
We need Musicians, Set Builders, Crew, Actors:-Both Singers and Non-singers
(yes there are non-singing roles in the show), Dancers, Publicists, and
anyone else who can bring even a smidgen of energy to the production.
Don't worry if you've not done anything like this before, we'll give you
all the support you'll need.
We are going to get everyone together on Sunday 2nd August for our Show
Call at 10:30 am. This is where everyone can meet each other, the actors
and singers audition for parts, the crew and production team have some
discussions, and musicians can get a chance to see the music and have a
laugh.
For those of you who don't know the show, it's a rock and roll jukebox
musical featuring songs like "Great Balls of Fire", "Monster Mash", "It's a
Man's World", "Good Vibrations" and many many more. It tells the story of
the Space Ship Albatross, captained by Captain Tempest and his loyal crew
(and some not so loyal), who are wrecked on a strange world, where they
meet a mad scientist, his daughter and their loyal robot. With unrequited
love, monsters, exploding planets and a serious rock and roll soundtrack,
we're looking to blow people away.
The show will be performed at the Compass Theatre in Ickenham from
Wednesday 2nd December until Saturday 5th. Rehearsals will be almost all
Sundays from the Show Call until the show (not for everyone!). We'll be set
building, doing promotional events and publicity flyering for the show as
well during this time. The Show Call and rehearsals will be at the Scout
Hut on Gatting Way, just off Park Road, in Uxbridge UB8 1ES.
