Can someone please tell me the typical royalty fee (flat fee per performance, or percentage of ticket sales) for producing a one-act play for a theatre of 400 seats or less? Thanks, Joanna

Non-musicals are generally a flat per performance fee. The actual fee varies depending on the show but most are under $50.00 a performance.

And for a one-act even smaller... $10-20 sounds about right.

When our CT has worked directly with playwrights (as opposed to play publishing houses), royalties were generally 10% of the box office.

Most play publishers have set fixed royalty rates for their shows.  They range from $10 to $100 per performance, depending on the publisher and the particular one-act play.

I hope this info helps!
