So we didn't get rights for Annie planned for this fall. What are some other high name recognition that'd utilize kids?

We had a lot of good luck with James And The Giant Peach. The kids loved it because they'd seen the movie, read the book and the play did well because it was sarcastic and played to the adults as well as the kids. We did a one hour play, not the full 2 hour version, so I don't know how the full length would flow, but we were very happy with the show. We had to figure out how to do the special effects, but once we did, it worked wonderfully.

I would think if a lot of younger kids are needed then I would second Wizard of Oz and Oliver.

I'm not remembering a lot of kids in Sound of Music beyond the family. We lost rights to SOM and got stuck with Annie. I was bummed out. Can you say "Tomorrow"? We got SOM the next year. As it turned out, I really enjoyed Annie, and SOM was a bit of a disappointment.

We've done Oz, Wonka, and Peter Pan, for our children's summer camp and they all worked out well. Pan is a big expense because of the flying, Oz and Wonka have a lot of effects too, but you can cheat if you have a good video projector and a computer graphics guy/gal.
