Does anyone know if you need to get the rights to do a Twilight Zone episode?  And if so, how would you go about doing it?

Yes, they are still under copyright so you would need to get permissions from someone. CBS.com has videos online of the old episodes so it's very possible that CBS television is the current right's holder, so that would be a good place to start.

What a cool idea, let us know which episode to choose..  My faves would be:

The Librarian (Burgess Meredith glasses break at the end).
Obsolete (Burgess Meredith again, as an "obsolete" librarian).

If you're looking in that direction, also check out: Night Gallery, as they are 44 minutes long (and hour of TV), whereas most of the Twilight Zones are 24 mins (30 mins TV before cut up in the 70's for more commercials)

I feel pretty stupid responding to this more than a month late, but I AM pretty stupid, so here goes:

Remember that Night Gallery was an anthology, and typically had 3-4 stories to fill that 44 minutes, so the individual stories were actually much shorter than TZ (although, IIRC, once in a while they'd do a long one).

My fave Night Gallery's were:

The rich woman who bought eyes so she could see..
Roddy McDowall, and the picture that showed someone returning from the dead to visit him.
