We are having a flapjack fundraiser at Applebees on the saturday before Mother's Day. Tickets are $5, and must be purchased in advance.  We have been advertising for a month now, and have only sold two tickets.

If you can think of anything we can do in the last week before the event, please let me know. This is what we have done so far:

  • Sent press releases to 30 different newspapers in sussex county
  • Sent press releases to 32 different radio/tv stations (general emails and individual personality's private emails)
  • Put up over 20 posters (many businesses around here either aren't open yet or don't put up posters)
  • Emailed personal contacts
  • Sent out a newsletter
  • We are on over 15 social community calendars
  • Updated our YouTube channel with an ad for it
  • Sent out notices via facebook
  • Sent out notices via myspace
  • Updated statuses on each periodically

WHEW! i'm exhausted just writing that stuff! LOL

Please check out our website to see the poster that has been posted.

Are fundraisers in your area usually done in connection with a restaurant?  In our small town they're usually held at the community center and we bring in "Dad's Belgian Waffles" or have volunteers making pancakes or omelets.

Fundraisers for theaters around here seem to be hush hush.... i don't understand it.  apparantly though, our Applebees is  usually packed FULL we just lucked out to schedule ours so early.

We need to get into the "in" crowd (there is a butt load of money in the Rehoboth area) but we need to start small.... prove ourselves first.

Tickets are ONLY available in advance by ordering online. Perhaps that scared people away? At least the average public not used to buying a ticket online to go to Applebees?

Right away you've restricted the way people can attend Applebees. Will you be selling tickets/admission at the door? Perhaps people will show up but expect to pay at the door.

I also have to question calling your group a community production company. Not knowing anything about you I'd have no idea what kind of group you are or what I was supporting if I bought tickets to this event. Why not community theatre or something a little more descriptive?

The "no sales at the door" is a restriction set by applebees.  They need to know how many are coming in advance so they can get the food/cook staff needed.  Remember, they don't normally serve breakfast.

as for Production Company vs Theater..... I thought I had switched everything over to Theater, but apparantly I missed the one logo that I used on the poster, and it didn't even dawn on me.  LOL Thanks for pointing that out.   I'll destroy the file so i don't ever use it again.

Perhaps if you try this again you can offer a place in town to pick up tickets in advance?

We ended up selling 29 tickets.  With the minimal tips, it brought in $179!

Over all it was a success! but all our ticket sales came in the last week before.  We will be trying a ticket outlet via a store next time we do it.

Thanks for your support!
