and probably against all of the rules of this board. But bear with me, for where else could I posit this idea?

Our venue has been rented out for a future, high profile, high cost speaking engagement. We are anticpating low audience turn out.

I need to rig something like a snow or balloon drop over the stage. Although this one need to drop shoes. One at a time. It needs to be well hidden, away from  Secret Service and operated by remote for quick egress by the operator. I would also consider some type of shoe-launcher from the rear of the auditorium. Cannot cause any type of injury to the speaker and I would want it to aim just over his head, then to the left, then the right, then randomly around the speaker.

Any ideas?

(No, none of this is true. And I would try to dig up any professionalism I have if it were. But let a man dream!)

Perhaps you could provide some more specifics.

The guest speaker wouldn't be a former POTUS, would he?  Forgive me, but all the talk about aiming shoes at the stage, the secret service, etc.... just makes me wonder.

I'm thnking this is a bit of a put on.  First off, throwing anything on stage, especially with the Secret Service around is not a good idea.  i had to deal with them when Barbara Bush was speaking and these guys do not have a sense of humor, but thankfully they never pulled a machine on me like Musad (sp?) did (long story).

I think that one shoe, you might get away with, but not two and you had best be willing to face the consequences of such actions.

Sorry I can't help more than that.
