Has anyone produced "Flat Stanley"?  I need to pick a script for 2nd thru 8th grade actors for our community theatre and have heard great things about "Flat Stanley".  When I read the perusal script it reads VERY juvenile to me.  Will the older kids be bored to death or does it play better than it reads for the older kids?
Your experience and thoughts are appreciated.

I dont know anything about the play.. I know there is a book they use in the elementary section of the school.. They draw pictures of flat stanley and it "seems" to follow something like a wheres waldo approach.. Flat Stanley travels to different places etc... I wasnt even aware there was a play, but from what I see here at school, I could only assume its for like K-4..

On the PYA website (Plays for Young Audiences) it says the focus is for all audiences.  I've not yet read the script, but am interested also.  It has a great message, but does not seem to follow the book exactly (more focus on the conflict with his brother).

You'd be surprised what interests the older children!  Especially since most of them have probably read Flat Stanley and have participated in Flat Stanley projects.  We recently staged Gooney Bird Greene with great success, and GBG and FS are about the same reading level.

I'm more intersted in how to go about costuming Stanley!
