We have a small theatre company that does avant-garde theatre.  I am looking for some new titles to explore for upcoming productions.  Trying to balance shows that are interesting, yet are somewhat know by the general public.  Does anyone have any suggestions of shows that have some of the following criteria:  cutting edge, smallish cast, no set change.  Thanks for any input.

Here is a list of some of the shows we have either considered or have done:

“The Castle”

“Fefu”

“Trouble in Mind”

“What the Butler Saw”

“Loot”

“The Empire Builders”

“Death and the Maiden”

“Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead”

“Dream on Monkey Mountain”

“The Birthday Party”

“The Last Flapper”

“The Maids”

“Deathwatch”

Avant-Garde is one of my favorite types of theatre.  Might I suggest that you look at any script by the following playwrights:

     Samuel Beckett
     Bertolt Brecht
     Jean Cocteau
     Antonin Artaud
     Dairo Fo
     Eugene Ionesco
     Junot

I notice that your list did not include the most famous of all.  Any good Avante-Garde theatre company must do WAITING FOR GODOT at leat once.
My favorite, although not a smallish cast is THE VISIT.  Its a great script and extremely witty as well.

I was going to mention Godot also. Minimal set, good name recognition.

We have discussed Godot, it's a great show, but R&G are Dead has similar themes.  I'm sure we'll do it at some point in the future but not too close to R&G.

I've been involved in multiple productions of both of those show. They're both challenging but R&G is more complicated to produce and you need a lot more warm bodies.
