Hey.
I've got to put on a one act play and i'm having trouble deciding on a play to do, because there are just sooooo many!!
Anyway i've done a short list, but i can't find a preview of any of the scripts so i was wondering if a
a) anyone knew where to find a preveiw
b) or if anyone knew if the following plays are any good
c) know of any other good One act plays!!!

SHORT LIST
"Bang! Bang! You're Dead" or "What we learnt from TV"
Tim Kelly

Women and Wallace
Jonathan Marc Sherman

A Mad Breakfast
Isabel R Gray

Asylum ( or does anyone know other good ones by him?)
Dennis Bush

Bang, Bang You're dead (Found the script)
William Mastrosimone

Bits and peices
Corinne Jacker

Joy
Scott Mcateer (is Aussie, so you may not know it)

In Cahoots
Melissa Reeves ( Also Aussie)

Insight
Emilio Regina

I know its a long list, but if you know if any of these plays are good or bad, or where to read a preview i would love you forever....welll atleast a while anyway :)

"Women and Wallace" is the only piece I know - from the Young Playwrights collection, right?

I've seen it performed (never been involved in a production). I thought it was a good play and it held my interest.

Don't know any of the others.

Good luck!

I just got through judging some one-act competition and some of the better ones were:

  • Cathleen ni Houlihan by William Butler Yeats (need strong actors who can do Irish accent)
  • Booby Trap  by Ed Monk (you can read part of it at http://www.playscripts.com/playview.php3?playid=63 - http://www.playscripts.com/playview.php3?playid=63
  • Flowers For Algernon by Daniel Keyes
  • Greater Tuna by Joe Sears, Jaston Williams, and Ed Howard
Break a leg!

...just for the record - those must have been cuttings - "Flowers for Algernon" and "Greater Tuna" are full length 2-act plays.

My group can be anything. Because it's a house drama play so i just hold auditions and choose who i need. I would prefer plays that had a medium cast around 10 or more.

Not a correction, just additional info that I should have included in the first place.  Your "trap" is very helpful.

http://www.playscripts.com - www.playscripts.com is very helpful because you can read a large portion of the play online before you order =)

Hello,

Thanks for your interest in my play, ASYLUM.  Many of my plays and monologue collections are represented by Brooklyn Publishers (www.brookpub.com) and they offer previews.
