Someone has suggested this show and is willing to direct it for our CT. Has anyone ever seen/produced this show? Was it successful? I'm not familiar with it at all.

It's a very popular community theatre show. I have adjudicated at least a dozen productions over the years.

It's a good play - well written and character driven, with layered characters who are both amusing and poignant. It's especially popular with community theatres who have older actresses who are not always easily cast.

I saw the show several years ago and was suprised how much I enjoyed it.  I went in not expecting to like it both because of the subject matter and the producing theatre's reputation, but I was happily proved wrong.  Just proves one should never judge a book...or rather script by the cover.

In fact it's one of the front running plays with our script selection committee for next season.

Ditto the above.  I directed it for a community theatre a few years back and was gratified by the audience reaction as well as the cast's affinity for the story and the characters.

All the characters are delights for actors to wrap up in and for the audience to get close to.
