Our theatre has been invited to participate in the town's tree decorating contest, with a cash prize awarded to the best tree.

We're looking for ideas.  In our brain-storming session we've come up with the following to decorate the tree:
* ornaments with our logo
* pictures from productions
* tickets from productions

Does anyone have any other suggestions?  Thanks!

How about using/making ornaments out of miniatures that SUGGEST past productions?

For example, if you've done "Oklahoma" you could hang a miniature cowboy hat, surrey or flag with the production title and date carefully painted or drawn.

Likewise, "My Fair Lady" might be represented by a London Bridge or grammaphone. "Deathtrap" could be a tiny typewriter, crossbow or Houdini handcuffs.   The possibilities are endless.

Use your imagination and browse the aisles of your local Dollar Store or Hobby Shop, searching for interesting (and cheap) pieces.

How about using objects to suggest the plays coming up this season.  Use it as advertising by putting the names of the shows and their dates somewhere on the ornament.

Fun Stuff! with a little bit of pride in our theater and slightly off topic, last night was our city hallloween parade (big deal here) and a few of our folks put together a float with a theme of advertising our remaining show season and pumping the first show of our next season (Oz). Then members got together, put on appropriate Ozian costumes, rode/walked, handed out flyers and candy and walked away with the "Best in Show" award... Good luck in your competition, and I agree with those that say, "use it to advertise!"

A bit late for this year, but how about topping the tree with  top hats and canes? Drape pearls around the tree. Use long gloves as well. Get extra curtain fabric (the nice burgundy velour kind) to skirt the base. (kind of a "dressing for theatre - old school style"!)
