I am a high school drama teacher and I am setting up scenes for a class project, the problem is I need scenes where the parts are pretty even (no trees in the background role) of 6 actors (one 5 and one 7)and between 10 and 15 minutes long.
I have scenes from THe Odd Couple (male and female), Steele Magnolias, The insanity of Mary Girard, Check Please, THree Tables, Small WOrld, Emotional Baggage, and David Ives's plays.  I have been having a hard time with finding dramas, and if possible want a play cutting (then make them read it all!)
I have many scripts, but need advice as to what scenes to turn to.

(and do not worry about legalities, I will use this as a class acting/directing exercise!)

There is show called 1940's Radio Hour. It started as a improvistional piece at Yale years ago. It is in two parts. It is set in a radio Studio in 1942, just as the war is breaking out. The first part is a wonderful ensemble piece that can stand in it's own. The characters are fun and funny. There are 13 total. That maybe too many for you. It is longer. It runs about 25 minutes if you really keep it moving. The second half of the show is the radio show complete with original commercials and music.

I taught high school, and if I was to ever go back, I would use this piece when they were studying the Second World War. It is a little gem both in content and in ensemble acting.

Check out Over the Tavern and Brighton Beach Memoirs. I think there are a few good ensemble/family scenes in there that have 5 or 6 characters.

You can read over the tavern online at http://www.playscripts.com - www.playscripts.com
