I am interested in finding out more about the set requirements for Dearly Beloved. Can anyone tell me about the set for the play. Is it one interior set or does it involve multiple set changes. If anyone has photos of their set it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

While the play takes place in multiple setting, it is usually staged quite simply. I have directed Dearly Departed 3 times and twice we did a basic set and only changed set pieces to denote the setting of that particular scene. This works very nicely.

The most elxciting set was in my home theatre where we actually built a fairly large turntable and while one scene was being played on the audience side of the turntable, the crew would adorn the backside for the next scene. This was really a cool way to do the show with more elaborate scene decor. However I realize a lot of theatres don't have the ability to do a big turntable.

which ever way you do it, the play is always a big hit with the audience.

We just closed it ....I will try to get you some pics. We just had one inside set and used small lighted areas for the other scenes. We moved from stage left to right. It worked well for us.
