My local community theatre just did "A Night of Dramedy" in May where we presented three short plays. However, they were not known titles at all, but we got quite a few people. We're thinking about doing the same kind of thing next year, but what are some suggestions of famous titles that are available in 20-30 minute versions?

I'm not sure I completely know what you want. Are you looking for famous plays that have shortened versions, or famous books that have been shortened into one-act plays?

What kind of casts are you looking at, numberswise?

Either one of those would be good. The titles can be of books or of plays, but they need to be something that people have heard of.

How about 'The Bible in 30 Minutes or Less'.

Unfortunately, "famous titles" is a rather subjective term - what may be considered "famous" to those in the world of theater might be completely unknown to those in the general community.

Anyway, from some of the digging around I've done lately, Samuel French has Tom Stoppard's http://www.samuelfrench.com/store/product_info.php/products_id/3934 - "Fifteen Minute Hamlet."   Pioneer Drama has a pretty good http://www.pioneerdrama.com/search.asp - advanced search function that you can use to whittle down which plays you want by cast size, length, genre, etc. - and many of their shows are take-offs of other well-known shows, but with a twist.  http://www.bakersplays.com/store/index.php/cPath/7?osCsid=2303f3ee611ccb40408a057a8456ddb3 - Baker's Plays seems to have a number of one-acts that are similar to the kinds of offerings that Pioneer has.

Hope that helps!
