Hi All,
Newbie here....we are doing HSM in a few weeks and as usual I am wearing the hat of producer/costumer/set designer, etc. etc. I could really use some ideas for a simple set. We are a small town community theater group, yet have over 60 kids in this cast ranging in age from 8 to 18. Right now, I have set up steps to 24" riser, with another 8" riser centered & tri-actoids behind. Was thinking of only painting the tris white with a wildcat? Having a railing for Sharpay front & center. Any advice or ideas will be welcomed. I know the last scene is a nightmare with 3 split scenes on stage at once! I would love to see some pics of the "wildcat" logo.

One of the things we did at the finale (that turned out to be a real "show stopper") was drop the familiar lighted sign down and make it the center piece of a choreographed song/dance number.  The sign measures 9 feet tall and 11 feet wide with marqee chaser lights.  Very impressive.

I don't have a photo of the Wildcat logo, but here's the sign fully lit:

And here it is in mid-chase with a cast member next to it to show scale:

Wow...that is amazing! Did you have someone build that? What did you use for the base...plastic or wood? Luan? I have so many volunteers to help with the set, I may be able to give that assignment to a group of them. I Love It! Thanks for the input.Thumbs%20Up

I own a company that makes specialized stage props and set pieces, and we made it for general rental.  Unfortunately, the sign is so bulky (it does come apart for transport, but it is still a bit large for shipping) that we only rent it to venues in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  I'm in the process of manufacturing the controller and driver units for this and any other sign of this type (as in THE FULL MONTY or LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS).  If you need help with your own sign, contact me via mailto:info@theatricalreality.biz - info@theatricalreality.biz and I'll help where I can (without giving away any "trade secrets," of course).  ;o)

Have fun and good luck!

Hi,

This may be too late for the original poster( Egstheater), but we just added a printed scrim (for rent) with "East High School" and a Wildcat logo.  You can see it on our rental page: http://www.studio-productions-inc.com/rental_order.html - http://www.studio-productions-inc.com/rental_order.html
