Hi Kim,
I DOUBT that a sound technician would be able to deal with actually SEQUENCING the show unless they know how, have the software to do it and the nearly 700+ hours it can often take to sequence a whole show.
But running it would HAVE to be a sound person's responsibility - or someone designated to run the sound for the show in performance.
I know it can be rather expensive because it means that you still have to rent the scores (unless you're able to find the sequences already done from someone who does this for a living), plus pay the fees to the person or company who provides the sequences for doing them, adjusting, fitting as a glove to YOUR needs for the show, and perhaps fees for rights and so on. I mean they are in business doing this...and thus don't do it for free. It simply isn't ever going to be cheap especially when a show has NOT been offered by the holding company for live performance "canned" music. Then too, it may also be that they cannot collect the rights to sequence the show you want to do. I know that the persons I know who do this for a living, have spent literally thousands to get the rights to sell a LIMITED number of copies of what they produce (usually CD's with MP3's or the like - similar) to have ALL the music in the show. SOME shows they simply cannot get the rights to. So it's always going to be a toss-up. AND there ARE VERY VERY FEW people who do this professionally to the degree that they pay for rights to distribute (basically THEY RENT the sequences to theater org's for use to run the show). So you're going to have a bit of a time with this I think. WOULD be nice if there was more of this available but there just isn't...that I've seen and believe me I've looked around for this A LOT.
Good luck. HOPE you can get some more response.
