Hi all,
I'm new here and really don't know anything. Was hoping to get some advice on how to build a cave-like structure for an event at church. Not sure what the best way to construct this is or how to best make it look rock-like. Appreciate any help anyone can give!

We needed a cave for a production and seriously looked into using a large dog-loo (the igloo type doghouse). You can use the entire thing, or just half of it and cover and paint it to make it look like rocks.

You may want to look at using the 4 foot by eight foot sheets of 2inch thick styrofoam insulation. These can be cut and painted and are very lightweight.

When we had to do a cave, we went to an upholstry store and bought several sheets of 1/2" foam. We then built a rough shape out of a combination of plywood and 1x4 and sculpted and stapled the foam upon it. We then used a standard paint gun to blown color onto the foam. After the show, it was simple a case of yanking it free and we had tons of foam to use for other applications.
