I'm curious... I have now done sound design for 14 musicals since 2003. I just started keeping my old cue lists and designs backed up to CD once the show is done. I kind of wondered when I would need one again. Turns out that I'm doing Fiddler again and wouldn't you know it, that was the last show I did where I didn't keep a copy when done with the show. My question is... Do any of you keep a copy of the effects? I think it would be nice to be able to swap these with other sound guys in the future. My next question.... is this legal? Obviously, any sounds that I do by foley are mine to do as I please. Some fx I get from the BBC library that I have access to and some come from Sounddogs.com (my favorite). However, I never use the sounds stock and always end up doing something to it. For example, I just did Wizard of Oz and created a tornado sequence to go with the video. In the end, I think I used six or seven different sounds (with lots of panning and delay) to create the end file. At what point is it no longer the "sounddogs file", but something that is my own and not protected by some copyright?

So, is anybody interested in swapping fx designs from shows that they've done? I'll certainly post all of the ones I have if anybody is interested. Right now I've got Wizard, Christmas Schooner, Pirates of Penzance, Evita, and (soon) Fiddler on the roof.

Can I have some more talent in the monitors please?
