Ok so some of you may recall we are getting a new theater/auditorium at  the school where I TD. Well it is getting closer to being finished. Though, the date of Jan 15 is about 2 weeks off. Looks like we'll get in there on the 30th.
We'll have 3 weeks to get everything ready for opening night of  12 Angry Jurors on the 22nd of Feb.

Here is the thing... I walked the site the other day and was surpised to see   RED house walls. Not quite a red wine, but close. The sound cushions match, mostly. THey are a bit "brighter"
To my knowledge the seats (which will arrive on the 14th of Jan.) are supposed to be sage GREEN! So now I am thinking Christmas colors year round.
Now wait, there is still more to come.  Last I heard the grand drape will be eggplant purple!
I still don't know what the stage floor is going to be or what color it will be.
Just curious, do these seems like an odd mix of colors to anyone else?
By the way the school colors are Purple and Gold.
I was ok with the green and purple, seemed a bit unusual, but the red walls seem to create a really bizzarre mix.
Comments?

I'm guessing you had no say in the colors.  They sound a bit....interesting...

So what color is the house carpet?  (Yellow?)

I'd suggest who ever picked the colours, has never heard of of the ''60-30-10 colour principle?
[or they would have problems applying for an electrical license]
Although they may have been better off having the 60-10 swapped around, with egplant walls & a red house rag.
Maybe the contractor got it mixed up or did a 'fell off the back of a truck' deal on the red paint?
The green seats ['30'] might be alright. as they will be covered up - every time you have a full house!Wink

Thanks I needed a good laugh this mroning.  I am going to see if I can sneak in there and take a look at the seats and possibly the curtains.
I completely forgot about the house floor! I was concerned with the stage floor. Those two will surely clash as well. I suppose I should be saying...at least it is all new!
We have now been told we can actually take posession of the place on Feb 4th with partial access that week. With full access the following. It'll make the show interesting anyway.

So does partial access mean rehearsals in steel cap boots & colour coded hard hats?
I wonder what the code could be;-
Red =
Orange=
yellow=
Green=
Blue-
White=
I doubt there is any Black ones available?

Color coded hard hats! I love it!
For the actors maybe we should look into  glow in the dark hard hats Wink
Just got an email saying the equipment still needs to be purchased for the auditorium. I'm guessing that would be light and sound equipment. Wonder if we'll have it by the time we open the curtain (assuming it too has arrived and been installed for the show! HA

Actualy it is not that far fetched!
I remember one new venue for the grand opening gala performance, the crew was instructed by 'Worksafe' OH&S authority. To wear hard hats & steel capped boots back stage. Needless to say that lasted about as long it took the ink to dry, on the policy ruling, before the safety wear gear was commited to the bin.
If you can have a hand in the equipment purchase & consultation with the Buiders, this can be worth while. Also it is surprising how much a few cartons of beer [slabs of tinnies] can achieve!
Also remember to do a lot of builders skip diving, to save a lot of off cuts & recylable matterial, rather than it ending up on the local Rubbish Tip.
Further with the decore paint & carpet left overs, get the building contractors to set them aside, for future touch ups & damage repaires.
chookas Aimee!
