I am looking for a show similar in cast and tone to "Best Christmas Pageant Ever" but not a holiday show.  We had great success with that and I would like to do another comedy with kids and adults.  We have not done musicals so I probably wouldn't consider one.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow - the musical version is great!  Get it through Pioneer Drama Service.  Though some theatre groups have done this will all kids, my theatre group (the town hall players) will be performing this in October 2008 with adults and kids.  The classroom scenes will be kids in grades 4 through 8 and Katrina's friends and Brom Bones friends will be high school kids.  Adults will play the adult parts.  Counting townspeople, school children and friends of Katrina and Brom Bones, there is room for 20 to 30 in this play.

I just finished directing A Christmas Story, the stage version of the very popular movie that is shown on TBS for 24 hours every Christmas (the play is based on the writings of Jean Shepherd, and varies just enough from the movie to make it fresh). Not only did we sell out every night, we had to add shows because of the popularity. Show has 7 children (5 boys, 2 girls) and you can add more if you like, and 4 adults (again, you can add more--the narrator can play the small parts or you can split them up between other men).

It is published by Dramatic Publishing Company. The play can be found here: http://www.dramaticpublishing.com/p271/A-Christmas-Story/product_info.html Considering the cult following of this show, it's a sure sell out and very, very charming. Well known and funny as well as well loved by many people.

Cheaper by the Dozen has both adults and kids. I think it's published by either French or Dramatic publishing.

Good luck.
