I'm sure this has been asked before.... but who has the rights to "Messiah on the Frigidaire" and how does one acquire a script?

Thanks so much. Ever on the hunt for a show.

You can get a ton of information on the play at this website. Good show.

I emailed the author, who very quickly responded with info and a script. So that's how you get the info on the rights! Very easy. He says we go through him until it goes to a publishing company. Just thought I'd let you know how that worked out in case anyone else was wondering. Go to his website:
www.messiahonthefrigidaire.com as stated earlier in this thread.

You all may know this, but I just found this website and I'm very excited because it's very useful:
www.findaplay.com
It searches all the big publishers by title, and you can also enter searches by genre and cast number. What a relief! Finding who the publisher is can be my biggest headache!

So I ordered 5 different scripts, plus "Messiah."
"Hillarious Hillbilly Massacre"
"Faith County"
"Dearly Departed"
"Curious Savage"
"Bad Year for Tomatoes"

I note a theme of southern accents, even though I'm in North Dakota.

I remain hopeful that out of those 6 shows, I should be able to find just the right comedy for our spring dinner theater.

This is a very useful forum and I really appreciate everyone's insight into what shows are good and what sucks.

I'm not famiiar with Hillbilly Massacre, but of the others my favorites are Messiah on the Frigidaire and Dearly Departed.  But that's just me.

Perhaps I should start a new thread on this, but I received a copy of the script after following the advice above, and I really, really liked the play.
Very funny.   My question is, have any of you who have produced the play had any controversy about the subject matter. I'm in a conservative area, with conservative patrons. In reality, the play is very spiritually uplifting, though it takes some turns to get there. To me it doesn't seem sacreligious at all, but some people may react based on the title and not the play itself. I was wondering what your audiences and patrons thought.
Thanks!
Will

"Curious Savage" went over very well for our group last fall.
Simple box set and fun characters for actors to work with.

Congrats!!!
I love the play, and hope to direct it in the fall.
Nice to know that Sam knows a good thing when he sees it.

That's great news, John.  I'm sure this will open up the work to a much wider audience.  As an actor, it still remains one of my favorite shows. (I was Dwayne)

Thanks for the kind words.  I can definitely say that the response to the show that I've gotten from actors and directors is more precious than any contract.
From here on out, it's all just icing on the cake.  Thanks again.
