I was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and I have continued to work my day job and fulfill my duties as Artistic Director at my community theatre.  It's been very difficult at times, and I am still adjusting to this life-altering situation.

I was wondering if there are any other theatre Board Members with disabilities out there?

Mostly, I am experiencing balance and coordination issues (along with terrible short-term memory los).  My new motto?  "I'm not drunk, I have MS".  Wink

First off, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this trying times.

Though my disabilities are no where near what you have (spinal bifida occulta and bad knees) I know I have limited myself to what projects I am involved with and how I am involved with it.  I tend to direct more and if I am involved with choreography for a show, I assist another choreographer and work out the steps with them instead of over burdening myself.
Now is the time that you rely on others for support and help.  It gets frustrating when you feel that you can't keep up or do what you used to be able to do.  And then there is the feeling that others are taking over for you.  You'll have a lot of transition coming up and it's important that you get the support that you need.

-------------
The two greatest days in a theater persons life, the day you start a new show and the day the damn thing closes.
