We are the Apple Cider Players of Woodcliff Lake, NJ and need help with a set for our production in September/October.  We are in North Jersey and any assistance with design and props would be helpful.  We look forward to hearing from you!   THanks in advance for the help - we need it!

Hi Joe,
I directed "Rumors" in 2005. I would be happy to help if I can. I guess I need I few more specifics. What kind of space do you have to work in? Do you have the height for a two story set? That would be very helpful, since a lot of the homor has to do with running up and down the stairs. Do you have anyone doing props? If you don't, you should have someone on hand just to wrangle all of the food. There are a fair amount of props, but they are pretty readily available except for the gift box of crystal, even then it wasn't too hard to make.

My very artistic  designer took these artsy photos, if images will help. The black and white photos are an early rehearsal. The colored photos are a run through. We still didn't have all the props and costumes, but you'll get the idea.

Somewhere I have the CD of a full dress rehearsal.
Ask questions, and I will do my best to answer them.

Thank you Linda -    Yes  there is a very high ceiling...although we have to rent a stage first.  Then we could create the stairs and "fake" doors for the rooms...  It just seems like a complicated expensive set.  We need help.  Where are you located and how best should we proceed?  I'd love to see the CD!   Check our site out on www.appleciderplayers.com.
You can send the CD to Apple CIder Players - 7 Bedford Rd; Woodcliff Lake, NJ 07677  - Let m know how much you want for the CD!  Our email is mailto:appleciderplayers@appleciderplayers.com - appleciderplayers@appleciderplayers.com
Talk soon!

Our stage is in the activity building in a senior community and it is relatively small. We built the set easily though. Here is the main page for Rumors and at the bottom are two links---set building and furnishings (which we borrowed from a furniture store). http://www.movinon.net/VillagePlayers/Rumors/main.html - http://www.movinon.net/VillagePlayers/Rumors/main.html

I also work with a local dinner theatre in town. We did Rumors awhile back, but I hope these pics will help.

Hi Joe,

The set is actually pretty straight forward. I loved everyone's photos. The sets are really good. (TimW that is an amazing chandelier!) I think our set cost about $500. to build. We did get some lumber donated. We had the stairs. The doors we borrowed, and had to return them to their rightful hinges after the show. We rented the furniture from a local Rent a Center: $100 and a 1/2 page ad  and we got for all the livingroom furniture for a month! And they delivered. It doesn't get better then that. I think we spent about $100 on props.

I will dig out the cd and mail a copy to you. No charge.

By the way I checked out your site. You have done some nice sets.

We just finished "Rumors" in June.  I built the set for about $200.00, but we had 6 Door frames and 5 doors in our storage.  We also had the stairs and railings from previous shows.  Never throw anything away.
