Any ideas on how I can piece a broken plate together so it can fall and break show after show?  Here's the catch ... the stage on which we perform is carpeted.

I would re-assemble the pieces holding them together with melted candle wax.

It works with the same principle as a hot-glue gun -- except it's using wax, not glue.  First, find a candle similar in color to the plate and light it.

As the wax melts, drip it along the broken edges and hold them together until the wax cools, binding the pieces together.

The resulting bond is VERY weak, but should hold together if handled gingerly.  It will break apart if dropped or mishandled.

Be careful scraping off the excess wax.
