Hey all,
My 14 year old son wants to audition for High School Musical at our local Professional Music Theater.  I am a director of children's theater myself, but HSM has music that is so different from your norm of music theater show tunes so choosing an audition piece has been difficult.  ANy suggestions???

i would say stay as contemporary as you can. "I sing for you" from the movie "camp" is a simmilar character as the male lead in HSM. the music is hard to find, but its a great song. the music is contemporary and catchy just like HSM. if you can get the music, i think that song would work well. hope that helped.

you know you work in community theatre when your couch has been in more shows than you have.

Has he thought about Chauvelain's song from Scarlet Pimpernell--There's the Girl is the name.  It's about the right style, interesting rhythms, and a very good song for "acting" while singing.
