I bought a computor last night for home ( I have  been using my machine at work).  I want to put together all of my costume notes, patterns and designs in a searchable format.  Does any one have a drawing program that they would recommend?  (I have an AutoCad program at work but it is not suited for simple line drawings of patterns or little sketches.  I have heard of the Corel system but never tried it.  Any pros or cons?

There isn't a really software program to accomplish what you're wanting to do.  The best quick solution I would suggest would be to use "Google Desktop".  The google desktop software basically allows you to search for anything on your computer using the "google search logic".  The search will not only find files you need but it will also "read through" your notes or word documents or even your email to help you find exactly what you're looking for.

As far as which program to use for creating or modifying graphics or picture I use Adobe Photoshop.  Adobe Fireworks (formerly Macromedia Fireworks) is another good but cheaper product.  If you purchase an older copy of either program on ebay you'll pay significantly less than buying the new latest version.
