I need to have a chanpagne bottle "pop" on stage. The actor does not pour or drink the contents-just need the effect. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Just had to do that. I used very fizzy club soda and the actor gave it a little shake before he popped the cork. I thought we may have to drop in one those carbonated drink tablets, (You know the stuff kids throw in plain water and it turns into soda.) but it worked fine with out it.

We've addressed this topic before on other posts, but I've had great success using a champagne bottle (with a re-useable cork) filled with ginger ale and 1/2 an Alka-Seltzer tablet tossed in just before showtime. Quickly re-cork the bottle and the extra carbonation builds up inside impressively.
